Warangal Rural RTC employee attempts self-immolation; colleagues intervene and save him

Hyderabad: Hours after TSRTC driver Srinivas Reddy self-immolated amidst the ongoing RTC protests, another employee attempts suicide. From Warangal Rural district, Ravi, working for Narsampet depot allegedly attempted self-immolation. However, his colleagues noticed and foiled his attempt.

According to sources, Ravi, hailing from Nallabelli village, was at the depot participating in a silent protest on the ninth day of the RTC strike. Ravi reportedly became upset after hearing about Srinivas’ death. Even as his colleagues continued the protest at the depot, he went out and returned with a plastic can filled with kerosene.

Before anyone could notice him, he emptied the can on himself, raising slogans demanding justice to employees. The protestors rushed to his rescue and foiled the attempt. The police who were deployed at the depot rushed and took away the can from him. He was detained and shifted to the police station. After the incident, additional forces were deployed at the depot, to avoid any further such incidents.
