Weather update: Thunderstorm warning for Telangana for next 24 hours

Hyderabad: The Indian Meterological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning for Telangana in the next 24 hours. The state can expect thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places over Telangana, as per IMD’s weather warning. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur in few places in the state, over the next five days, IMD’s weather forecast predicted.

Dr.K.Naga Ratna, director in-charge of IMD Hyderabad said that southwest monsoon activity in the state has been normal. The weather inference for the state mentioned the presence of a cyclonic circulation lying over Jharkhand and neighbourhood. “The shear zone [refers to change in wind velocity/direction] at 3.1 km above mean sea level from Jharkhand to the cyclonic circulation over north Konkan across Chhattisgarh, Telangana and North Interior Karnataka has become less marked,” Telangana’s weather inference stated.

According to Mahesh Palawat, head of Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, the weather activity present in the state now is not very intense. “The cyclonic circulation is one of the determining factors for the current weather. Humid winds are also present. In addition to this, the trough is also extending from northeast Arabian sea to east Uttar Pradesh, across Vidarbha in Maharashtra.”

He further added that the vicinity of this trough is leading to the isolated thunder showers in Telangana, and temperature may fall by one or two degrees.
