Will this star kid set a new benchmark?

Hyderabad: Every time the son or daughter of a celebrity or from a prominent family wants to make an acting debut, a proper platform with a whopping budget is laid out. But despite the splurge and a grand launch, not every time these star kids have succeeded in impressing the audience.

Maybe for that reason, Ashok Galla, nephew of Mahesh Babu and grandson of superstar Krishna, has chosen to do a small-budget film. Before going into details of this project, let us take a look at a couple of star kids who haven’t tasted success with their debut films.

Nikhil Gowda The son of Karnataka’s former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy made his acting debut with a film called Jaguar. This film was dubbed and released in other languages too. The politician spent around Rs 70 crore on the film, but it hardly saw any collections at the box office. Nikhil was not seen in any film after that.

Akhil Akkineni

The fans of the Akkineni family had a lot of expectations on Akhil Akkineni’s debut film which was called Akhil. Sayyeshaa Saigal, who is now the wife of actor Arya, was roped in to play the ladylove of Akhil in this film. It was also Sayyeshaa’s debut film. While nearly Rs 40 crore was spent on this project, it was nothing less than a disaster at the box office. Akhil has done two films after that. They too were flops.

Ashok Galla

Looks like Ashok is taking his baby steps very carefully. He chose a small-budget script which is a combination of comedy and thriller. Being directed by Sri Ram Aditya, the team has completed its first schedule and the budget of the film is Rs 3.5 crore. Ashok has taken a wise decision, though he belongs to a filthy rich family. So let us see how well is he going to succeed as a star kid.
