With 200 lockdown violation registered each day, AP ropes in drones

Vijayawada : The AP police have now pressed in drones for arterial survey over narrow roads in few cities and towns to ensure the lockdown restrictions are followed.

A senior officer with the AP police informed, A few drones have been installed at certain localities, in the state. In the coming days a large portion of cities will surveyed via drones. The technology will enable the police to act (deploy) personnel quickly at areas where people are spotted defying lockdown norms.

'The unmanned aerial vehicle will give us a bird’s eye view of who are defying the lockdown in the narrow lanes where the police vehicle can’t reach. Despite our repeated appeal to people to stay at homes to prevent the spread of the virus. Many are defying the rules and coming on the roads sans purpose; said Inspector of Anakapalle Town, in Vizag district Bhaskar Rao.

At least 200 cases for defying lockdown norms are being registered per day. And Over 150 vehicles are seized in a day since the lockdown orders have been imposed in the state.

“We have set up check-posts and barricades along main roads and other arterial roads. But there are reports we get of some youngsters defying the lockdown. We can’t deploy our police personnel at every junction resulting in introducing drones. The primary aim will be to monitor the purposes as remote areas ,” said a senior police officer.

On Saturday, the police deployed the drones at the red- zone areas (contaiment clusters) to monitor the complete lockdown situation in those area.
