Vijayawada: One COVID-19 positive case was reported from Vizag city on Sunday. This was the first patient who tested positive for the deadly virus after a gap of 13-days in Vizag city on April 19. A woman was tested COVID-19 positive in Vizag city and with the new case, the city reported 21 new coronavirus cases.

However, the district registered the highest recovery rate in Andhra Pradesh with 16 out of 21 patients discharged. The remaining Covid-19 patients in Vizag have been recovering and Vizag has only 5 active cases (lowest in the state).

In other districts, the recovery and discharge rate range from 1 to 16 per cent only. 50 percent of the patients from Kadapa district and 30 percent from East Godavari have recovered and have been discharged.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh rose to 647 after 44 new cases were reported on Sunday. With one more COVID-19 death in Kurnool district on Sunday, the death toll in the state increased to 17.

With the 44 new cases, Kurnool district maintained its lead in terms of positive cases in the State at 158 followed by Guntur district with 129 cases, Krishna district at 75 cases and Nellore district with 67 cases.

So far 65 patients have been reported cured and discharged from hospitals in Andhra Pradesh, while 17 persons have died of coronavirus till now. Currently, 565 affected persons are receiving treatment in the State.
