Woman, cop killed in two separate road accidents at Alwal, Shabad

A woman was killed and her son sustained injuries when they met with an accident after a pack of stray dogs chased their motorbike at Alwal late on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as K Chandramma. She was riding pillion on his son, K Philip’s motorcycle when it crashed. He suffered wounds in the crash.

According to Alwal police, Philip and his mother were on their way home with their two pets on the bike. While passing through an isolated street, a pack of strays started chasing them.

Philip tried to speed away but in the process lost control over the bike. He and his mother fell down from the bike and sustained injuries. They were rushed to a private hospital, where Chandramma was declared dead. Philip, who is working as a police constable, is said to be out of danger.

In another incident, a police constable was killed, after being run over by a speeding truck at Shabad on Friday morning. The victim has been identified as J Srisailam. He was posted at the Shabad police station of Cyberabad commissionerate.

Police said after collecting daily tappal (courier) from the police station, he was heading to ACP Chevella office on Friday morning. Midway at Nagarkunta junction, a speeding truck hit his bike. He was immediately rushed to the Government hospital at Chevella where he was declared brought dead.

Police have registered a case against the truck driver and started an investigation. Hailing from Peerampally village in Vikarabad district, Srisailam was posted at Shabad police station for the last two years. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
