`World Famous Lover’ goes to Bollywood

Hyderabad: Celebrated Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has bought the remake rights of Vijay Deverakonda-starrer 'World Famous Lover’.

'World Famous Lover,' which was released on Valentine’s Day, tanked at the box office. The fans went home disappointed. Critics too were not impressed.

'World Famous Lover' starred Raashi Khanna, Aishwarya Rajesh, Catherine Teresa and Isabelle Liete in the lead roles. The movie was directed by Kranthi Madhav and was bankrolled by K. Vallabha. Vijay is now busy working for his upcoming films -- Hero and Fighter.

It is baffling to see Karan buying the rights of a film that didn’t fare well at the box office. The moviegoers are eagerly waiting for an official announcement.

Will Vijay Deverakonda debut in Bollywood with this remake? Will 'World Famous Lover' be tweaked according to the taste of Bollywood lovers?

Vijay is probably one of the few actors from South India that Karan has acknowledged. His love for Vijay became evident when he acquired the rights of 'Dear Comrade'. The Hindi remake rights were acquired soon after the release of the film. He got it for a whopping Rs 6 crore. However, the shoot for the remake version is yet to begin.
