Youth arrested for raping teen in Madhapur

Hyderabad: A 24-year-old youth accused of allegedly raping a 15-year-old teen was arrested at Madhapur in the city Thursday. The incident happened six months ago but came to light three days ago, when the girl informed her parents, and a complaint was lodged at the police station. The accused Ravi raped the girl, when she went to a water tank near their home to collect drinking water, said police.

According to police, the girl, along with her family members, is residing at Madhapur. The accused Ravi is working as a driver on a water tanker. Six months ago, the girl, along with her younger sister went to collect water from the tank — Ravi who noticed the girl and took her into a room and raped her.

Though the girl returned home, she did not reveal it to her parents. Three days ago, when she became ill, she informed her mother about the incident. When they went to question Ravi, he did not respond to them and fled from the spot. Based on the girl’s complaint, a case was registered at Madhapur police station and Ravi was arrested on Thursday and produced before the court.
