YSR Cheyutha to benefit 25L AP women; Govt signs MoU with 3 retailers

Hyderabad: The Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Procter & Gamble (P&G), under the government scheme - YSR Cheyutha. The scheme will help women in the state in getting more employment opportunities that would provide a steady income.

The government said, “YSR Cheyutha will benefit around 25 lakh women of the SC, ST, BC and minority communities. They will receive Rs 75,000 in four instalments with Rs 18,750 distributed yearly to every beneficiary in the state. Under this programme, the government will be releasing around Rs 4,500 crore for the first year of the scheme to be launched on August 12.”

While signing the MoU, Sanjiv Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever, Sanjiv Puri, Executive Director, ITC and Madhusudan Gopalan, CEO of P&G, India, interacted through video conference and appreciated the initiatives taken by the YSR Congress government.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “Apart from YSR Cheyutha, the state government will also launch another scheme, YSR Asara in September, to support 90 lakh SHGs, where a sum of

Rs 6,700 crore would be allocated to women annually.”

Under both the schemes, the government will spend Rs 11,000 crore every year. The Chief Minister also said that the government was committed to spending Rs 44,000 crore on one crore women for the next four years.
