YSRC diverted Rs 25 cr endowment funds to Amma Vodi: BJP

Vijayawada: AP BJP vice president S. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, on Monday, condemned diversion of Rs 25 crore endowment funds to the state government’s welfare scheme, Amma Vodi. “This would hurt the sentiments of the Hindus,” he said and sought an explanation from the minister concerned.

Referring to the GO. No. 18, Vishnuvardhan Reddy said that the YSR Congress government deliberately diverted the funds and that it was not the first time.

He ridiculed the YSRC government for diverting the endowment funds for vote bank politics. “Ironically, the AP government hasn’t allotted even a single rupee for the endowments department in the recently introduced Budget,” he pointed out.

Vishnuvardhan Reddy questioned the government on the rationale behind diverting the funds even while priests working in temples have been facing trouble due to pandemic-induced lockdown.

“Why is the government or the endowments department not thinking of helping the priests but using the funds which should be used to pay their salaries,” he questioned.

He also demanded cancel of the GOs which enabled diversion of the funds, considering the interests of the devotees.
