YSRC led AP government has pushed democracy into danger: Naidu

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Party supremo and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu criticised Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress government for its misrule during the last one year. Speaking at the TDP’s annual conclave ''Mahanadu'' held in online mode on Wednesday, Naidu said that with the YSR Congress government has pushed democracy into danger in the state.

He said that the TDP would strive to save democracy in Andhra Pradesh and he called upon the TDP cadres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to strengthen the party organisation and continue to uphold the party ideals.

Naidu said that TDP as a political party has a strong base of loyalists and that many have faith in the party’s ideals. He lauded the TDP leaders and activists who had made sacrifices during the last one-year rule of the YSRC government.

“While some TDP leader laid down their lives, some others were framed in false cases by the YSRC leaders but still, they are continuing with the party,” he said and thanked all the party leaders for being with the organisation even while facing adversity. Many party leaders and activists faced harassment physically, mentally and financially, from the ruling dispensation during the last one year, he lamented.

The TDP chief faulted the YSR Congress government for focusing more on the enmity with the TDP rather than on development of the state. Reiterating that TDP was a party of the people, Naidu reminded that the party was in power for over two decades and in the opposition for 16 years. “Whether in the treasury benches or in the Opposition, TDP is always committed to the people in AP,” he asserted.

Coming down heavily on the YSR Congress government for suppressing the voice of the officials and people alike, Naidu said that Narsipatnam doctor K. Sudhakar was suspended from government service, arrested and humiliated for speaking on shortage of personal protection equipment (PPEs) for doctors treating Covid-19 patients. In the same tone, he reminded that a 60-year-old woman, Ranganayakamma, a TDP sympathiser, was arrested for questioning the government over the styrene gas leak from LG Polymers in Visakhapatnam.

Naidu also lambasted the YSRC government for dumping Amaravati as the state capital. He said that Jagan-led government has pushed the state into problems by killing Amaravati and mooting the idea of three capitals.
