Vishakapatnam: YSRCP MLA Gudivada Amarnath fumed at TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for making irresponsible statements damaging the brand image of Vizag city. He faulted the former CM and Opposition leader for sitting in Hyderabad and holding conferences with his party leaders through Zoom app but not doing anything constructive in Andhra Pradesh.
The MLA Amarnath said that in the entire world, Vizag is the only place where the shrines of Hindus, Christians and Muslims are located at one place and people from all states in the country, have been living in amity for years. This cosmopolitan culture cannot be found in any other place, he said.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy chose to locate the executive capital in Vizag to foster the city’s growth on the economic, social and tourist fronts, he said.
Naidu is trying to thwart the process by speaking against the region and damaging its brand image, he alleged. He asked what had Naidu done for Vizag during his 5-year rule.
“Moreover, when the state was divided, the Sivaramakrishnan Committee, constituted to suggest locations for the Capital, said Vizag would be the most suitable place. However, Naidu neglected it and chose Amaravati as the Capital,” the MLA pointed out.
The ruling party MLA asked what had Naidu done for Amaravati at least. He faulted Naidu for leaving places like Nambur and Mangalagiri, where large parcels of land was available, and choosing to destroy the fertile lands in Mandadam and Thullur by setting up the Capital. Amaravati was chosen by Naidu just to do real estate business, along with his stooges who have land there, the MLA alleged.
He said that in the last five years, Naidu has done nothing to build the Capital but just shown graphics of a world-class Capital and it turned out be the biggest scam of the decade. “If Naidu thinks that he has developed Amaravati as a world-class Capital, why did his two MLAs, including his son Lokesh, lose their seats in the region,” asked Amarnath.
“Now, Naidu is simply crying hoarse that the Capital is being shifted to Vizag, sidelining Amaravati.”
“If one goes to Guntur from Viayawada, all that one can find is narrow unlaid roads and temporary buildings. While Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is striving for the all-round development of the state, Naidu is making allegations that the government is using its intelligence wing to tap the telephones of the TDP leaders and judges,” the MLA said and dared Naidu to prove the allegations that he was levelling against the YSRCP government.
“It was Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy who had developed Vizag region and Naidu just tried to make all the public sector undertakings in the region ineffective,” the MLA alleged and claimed that even the TDP leaders of the region were favourable for establishing the executive capital in Vizag.
