YSRC MLA sit in protest violate lockdown, gets booked

Nellore: Police on Friday booked ruling party legislator from Kovur Prasanna Kumar Reddy for allegedly violating Section 144 CrPC while distributing essentials among the people at Buchireddypalem village.

The infuriated legislator staged a protest in front of the police station on Saturday against the act.

It may be recalled that the legislator had distributed essential commodities among the local population in Buchireddypalem village on Friday. Hundreds of local people had assembled to receive the material.

Police registered a case against the MLA on Friday midnight. Soon after, Reddy rushed to the police station along with his followers and staged a peaceful protest.

Ready said he did not violate the guidelines and handed over the essentials to the poor people while maintaining social distance.

A senior police official confirmed that a case has been registered against the lawmaker for violating Sec 144.
