Hyderabad:Amid growing tension over CAA, NRC, and NPR all over the nation, the YSRCP on Thursday cleared the air regarding its stand on the issue and said it was against the NRC and NPR.

Speaking to the media YSRCP leader and MP Mithun Reddy said, "The party has made it clear at the party meetings here on Thursday that it is against the National Registrar of Citizens (NRC) and the National Population Register (NPR)." He said the YSRCP will stand in support of the minorities and will seek a debate on the issue in the Parliament. The CAA Bill, he said, was introduced as an issue related to three other countries and said the way it was introduced and the way it is going to be implemented is different. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked us to oppose anything that is against the wishes of the minorities, he said.

He further said there was a sense of unease among the minorities in the country after the CAA was introduced in the Parliament. "We will certainly oppose the NRC and NPR if they are introduced by the Central Cabinet. We sought a debate on the issue to clear the insecurity of the minority groups," he said.
