15 evening walkers booked for violating lockdown in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Evening walkers beware! Next time you step out for a stroll, you may be booked for violating lockdown.

Rachakonda Police have arrested 15 people for stepping out of their homes for an evening walk at Keesara on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday.

Sources said Keesara police patrol teams came across several people moving on the roads on Sunday evening. When they were stopped, they told police that they were out for an evening walk.

Police immediately booked them for violating lockdown. All those booked hail from Shilpa Nagar, Saidharani Nagar, Netaji Nagar and Satyanarayana Colony.

Inspector of Keesara police station, J Narender Goud told media that stepping out of the home without any emergency tantamounts to violation of lockdown. ā€œPeople are liable for punishment as per the law,ā€ he said.

Goud noted all those morning or evening walkers will face action as per the law if they break the lockdown.

Not to long ago, the Rachakonda police, arrested a man for abusing cops when asked about a mask. Earlier, two people were booked for spitting on roads following the ban in Telangana.

According to Malkajgiri police, 21 year-old-youngster allegedly abused the cops when they (cops) questioned him on 'not wearing a mask' while he stepped out. The altercation between the man and police took place on April 22nd night. The following day Malkajgiri police arrested Satti Adithya Reddy. The accused is pursuing his engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology- Tamil Nadu. Following the lockdown , the student had come to his home town.

The facts of the case are, when cops deployed on patrolling duty at BJR nagar falling under Malkajgiri police limits, found Satti Adithya Reddy on the road not wearing a mask. When the cops stopped him to inquire, Adithya Reddy questioned cops saying, ' being in uniform, do you think you can stop anyone'. Who gave you the permission?" and abused them. The following day, the cops traced his house and booked him.
