16-year-old ends life over alleged harassment by lecturers in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A polytechnic student committed suicide due to the alleged harassment by the college lecturers. The incident took place at Meerpet in Hyderabad on Sunday evening.

The girl, 16, is studying in the III-year polytechnic at the TRR college of technology in Meerpet. She, along with her friends, had recently submitted her project. But it is alleged that the lecturers abused her saying that the project was not up to the mark and she would not pass the tests.

Her friends said that the faculty members Vishal Khanna and Parvathi had been harassing them for a very long time. They said, “We had complained to the management, but there has been no action.”

Other students said, “These two faculty harass us for every small issue. They also always threatened to fail us in the examination or tests.”

On Monday morning, students in large numbers staged a protest outside the road and blocked the movement of traffic completely. They demanded strict action against both the lecturers who have been harassing them.

No case has been registered in connection with the alleged suicide as parents did not give any complaint.
