Hyderabad: Around 17 residents of Rajendra Nagar have filed a police complaint against a person for cheating them by promising double-bedroom flats under the Telangana housing scheme.

According to Mohhamed Shafi, an activist, Hafeez Khan, a resident of Tolichowki, targeted underprivileged and differently-abled people. “Two years ago, Hafeez Khan came to these underprivileged people who don't have any financial and family support and promised them 2BHK flats. He also targeted differently-abled people and told them he would arrange government shops for them. A few days later, he gave them fake documents and after that, he didn’t show up.”

One of the victims, Sahana Sulthana, said, “I have spent my whole life in a rented house. We didn’t have much savings but we had saved some money after working hard all our lives. Hafeez Khan promised us 2BHK Telangana housing scheme flats. We gave him our savings in the hope of a better future for our children. We are uneducated and do not have knowledge and understanding of outside people and got cheated.”

The victims alleged that Hafeez took Rs. 20,000-30,000 from each of them. They have filed a complaint at the Rajendra Nagar police station and hope the police will take action against Hafeez.
