18- year-old youngster rapes 8-year-old girl in West Godavari

Vijayawada : In another incident of crime against children, an 18- year-old youngster allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl in a village falling under Dwaraka Tirumala Police Station limits in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
The accused is a distant relative of the victim.'The girl was playing with her cousins on Friday evening when the accused walked into the street. He reportedly gave his mobile phone to the girl to watch videos. The latter took the victim to cashew plantations, where he undressed the girl and raped her,' police said.
The heinous crime came to light when the girl's parents began searching for her. Noticing the girl's parents, the accused fled the spot.
Later the girl narrated the entire episode to her parents, besides informing them that she was raped several times in the past.
Acting upon the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and Section 376 of IPC.
The police have launched hunt for the accused.
