2 cops injured after speeding patrol vehicle hits divider in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Two police constables on patrolling duty escaped with minor injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in met with a major mishap at Gachibowli in the IT corridor of Hyderabad in the wee hours of Monday. The front portion of the vehicle was mangled in the accident.

According to the police, the vehicle belongs to the IT corridor patrolling team. On its way towards Gachibowli stadium, the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved to the right. As it was at high speed, the vehicle rammed into the divider, climbed over it and came to a halt after hitting a tree planted on the median.

Inquiries revealed that the accident occurred due to speeding. While rumours are doing the rounds that the man at the wheel was under the influence of alcohol, police sources denied the claims saying those in the vehicle tested negative on a breathalyser immediately after the accident.

The injured cops are recovering at a nearby private hospital. The Gachibowli police have registered a case and started a probe. They are also verifying the footage from CCTV cameras in the vicinity to ascertain the exact reason for the accident.
