22 private medical colleges to open for Corona treatment in Hyderabad: Health Minister

Hyderabad: With more number of people approaching the Gandhi hospital in Hyderabad, under suspicion of coronavirus, the Telangana state government has granted permission to all the private hospitals with experts and isolation wards for Coronavirus treatment.

In addition, as many as 22 private medical colleges have come forward agreeing to arrange for an isolation ward in their hospitals with monitoring equipments, ventilators and nebulizers for corona patients.

Addressing the media, Eatela Rajender, Health Minister for Telangana said, “Even the samples can be taken in the private hospital and sent to Gandhi for tests. If it is positive, they can get treatment in the same hospital.”

The health minister further said people who are financially stable enough to afford the treatment, can go to private hospitals.

Meanwhile, several private medical colleges have come forward offering isolated ward and treatment for corona patients.

“The private medical colleges have come forward to help us not just to keep people there in isolation but also to treat people in the same way as Gandhi Hospital with the same equipment and provide technical experts to start the treatment. This was unexpected," said the minister on March 4.

"Hospitals like Surabhi, Mahavir, Mamatha, RVM, Apollo, Bhaskara, Kamineni, Mallareddy, Medciti, MNR, Pratima and Saadhana have come forward in this regard. They will provide two types of facilities. One, in terms of Isolation wards; Two, in terms of providing 50 beds for patients," he said.

Private Hospitals i hyderabad open for coronavirus treatment

Speaking about the new facilities introduced in the wake of the corona virus outbreak, he said, “Besides private Hospitals, we would also have hospitals including the military hospital or King Koti hospital with all facilities in a short time. We will be here 24/7 and have a command control center and will monitor the situation."

As many as 22 private medical colleges have come forward agreeing to arrange for an isolation ward in their hospitals with monitoring equipments, ventilators and nebulizers for corona patients.

“Specific guidelines have to be issued in this regard to all the Superintendents of these Hospitals,” said an official statement from the health department.

Elaborating on the new committee that have been formed exclusively to address the disease, "We have also made a Hospital management committee which will take care of the patients coming from different hospital for the treatment or reports. Next is the Surveillance committee and an IEC Committee for the propaganda, to spread the talk and educate the people. Procurement committee for getting everything whenever we want and A committee (Training & capacity building) has been made to train the people get qualified. An IAS officer has been allotted to monitor the situation. Every committee will have an IAS officer."
