26-year-old arrested for stalking, threatening woman

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda cyber crime police arrested a 26-year-old man on 23 July for stalking a woman and threatening her of dire consequences after she rejected his proposal. Ashwaq had also sent the victim's selfies, forcibly taken, to her relatives. Based on the woman's complaint, Ashwaq was arrested and booked under various sections of the IT Act.

Ashwaq admitted he knew the victim who lived near his home. He sent her a Facebook request and the two started chatting after she accepted the request. Later, he proposed to her but she rejected the proposal. Angered by the rejection, he started harassing her and even went to her college. He forcibly took her selfies and used them to blackmail her.

One day he asked the victim to get in his car and threatened to send the photos to her family if she refused. Frightened, the victim agreed. During the car ride from Chaitanyapuri to Dilsuknagar, the accused took a photo of the victim holding a beer bottle.

A few months later, Ashwaq met her near her college and threatened to upload the selfies on social media if she did not accept his proposal. When she ignored his threats, he sent all her selfies to her relatives.

The accused was apprehended at Tattiannaram in Hayathanagar on Thursday.
