3 govt employees die as car plunges into canal near Tanuku in AP

West Godavari: Three government employees died after their car plunged into an agricultural canal near Tanuku in West Godavari district on Monday. The incident took place when the car was heading to Tanuku from Bhimavaram as the employees were on their way to attend office work.

The police said that Shekar, an employee in the municipal office, Naga Subhashini, working in the Velugu department and Srinivasa Rao, an employee of the transport department, drowned in the canal.

A senior police officer said the trio used to go their respective offices on bikes. However, due to heavy rain on Monday, the trio opted for a car to reach their offices.

The police reached the spot and are making efforts to retrieve the bodies from the water.
