Four Riyadh returnees held at Hyderabad airport with gold bars worth Rs 45.6 lakh

Hyderabad: The Air Intelligence Unit of the customs department nabbed four international passengers who arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi Airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad and seized 9 foreign marked gold bars weighing 837 grams from them. The seized gold is valued at Rs 45.60 lakh. This is the second such incident reported from the airport in the last three days.

According to the customs officials, on Friday night, the four passengers arrived by Saudi Arabian Airlines (Flight SV 3750) from Riyadh. They were intercepted while passing through the green channel and questioned. Later, they were checked physically during which gold bars concealed in their inner pockets and baggage were found. The gold bars weighed 837.200 gm and are valued at Rs.45,62,740.

Two days ago, on Tuesday night, five passengers, who arrived from Riyadh, were intercepted and gold bars weighing 837 gram valued at Rs 45.60 lakh were seized from their possession. The passengers were detained and their passports were also seized for further investigation.
