55YO COVID positive woman ends life at Khammam district hospital

Khammam: A 55-year-old woman undergoing treatment for COVID 19 at the district hospital Khammam was found dead in the washroom on Thursday night.
Hospital authorities said that the woman died by suicide. Khammam police registered a case and started investigation.
It is suspected that the woman took her life due to fear of not being able to recover from COVID 19.
According to hospital authorities, the woman hails from Buddaram village of Nelakondapally Mandal in the district. On August 28, she was tested for COVID 19 after she complained of fever. Later the test report came back positive.
She was initially put under home isolation. Later her son also tested positive for COVID 19. A couple of days later, she was admitted to the district hospital for better treatment.
On Thursday night, the hospital staff found her body in the washroom and alerted the police. Inquiries revealed that since her son tested positive for COVID 19, she was very worried. Further investigation is underway.
