Nellore: M Goutham Reddy, minister for industries and IT, said here on Thursday that the state government had released Rs. 30 crores 20 days ago for procuring medical material needed for the treatment of COVID-19 cases in the state.
At present, 3,000 ventilators are being produced at the Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone Limited and 25,000 COVID-19 testing kits will be available by 15 April. The government is also going to procure an additional 6,000 ventilators as per the requirement, he said. Emergency materials like Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), N-95 face masks, and other materials are being supplied to the COVID-19 hospitals across the state.
He discussed with officials the 21 reported cases and asked officials in the 43rd and 47th municipal divisions that have been declared red zones to be alert. He asked them to enforce the lockdown norms more strictly keeping in view the rise in the number of cases across the country. The administration is currently waiting for the results of around 50 suspected samples.
He further instructed them to resolve the problems at check-posts to allow uninterrupted transport of goods. He said the production in the state during the lockdown period has been fruitful even though they have been facing a shortage of manpower, restrictions at check-posts due to inspections, and other issues.
