Drift of pigs attack toddler in Hyderabad, child dies bleeding

Hyderabad: A drift of pigs attacked and killed a toddler in Saidabad, Hyderabad, on 21 April.

On Tuesday, the boy was playing inside his home while his mother was washing clothes. He did not notice the pigs when he came out of the house looking for her. The pigs suddenly pounced on him. They continued to attack the child and the helpless mother could not come to his rescue, an eye witness said.

The boy has been identified as Harshavardhan. His family migrated to the city from Kadthal in Rangareddy district for livelihood.The incident happened at Singareni colony of Saidabad.

The pigs mauled him and left him with injuries all over his body and a deep cut on his stomach. The child died on the spot of severe injuries and excess bleeding.

As per the eye witness, there were around pigs in the drift. The parents and the residents of the area blamed the negligence of the civic body and the government, that failed in controlling the movement of pigs in the area." We have complained on the pig menace on several occasions, but there was no response. The boy died today just because of the negligence of the authorities," they said. They further added that there are many slums in the surroundings facing the pig and stray dog menace and if Government does not act on them, such incidents can repeat in future. Saidabad police registered a case and started investigation.
