Aditya Hospital MD shoots himself to death at Jawahar nagar in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Alleged financial problems forced the promoter of a hospital to end his life here on Monday. Dr Ravindra Kumar, who owned Aditya Hospital at Alwal, allegedly shot himself with his licensed weapon at his residence in Jawahar nagar, police said.

According to sources, the Siddipet native, Dr Ravindra Kumar, who was in his early 40s, had established the hospital at Alwal a few years back. He was living with his wife in an apartment at Saketh in Kapra under Jawahar nagar police limits.

Monday afternoon, when he was alone at home, he allegedly shot himself in his temple area. Alerted by neighbors, police and Clues team rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood.

The weapon that was allegedly used has been seized. Police cordoned off the place and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.

Though financial issues are suspected to be the primary reason behind the suicide, police are probing other angles also.

The doctor is residing in a villa with his wife and son. On Sunday night, his wife along with their son went to her maternal home at Dilsukhnagar. During mid night, he called her over phone and spoke to their son. On Monday morning, when she called him over phone, there was no response from him. Worried, she asked her sister Dr Swapna, who works at the same hospital to go home and check. When Swapna came home, she found him lying in a pool of blood.

Police found that he shot himself on the right temple area and the weapon was lying beside him on the cot where he was found dead.
