After property grab, sons abandon father in Siddipet, arrested

Siddipet: Police have arrested three sons for abandoning their father after acquiring his property in the Siddipet district of Telangana.

Identified as Potu Ravinder, 52, Potu Janardhan, 48, and Potu Ravinder, 45, they had refused to take care of their 79-year-old father Potu Mallayya.

Hailing from Shanigaram Madhira village, Potu Mallayya owned property at different places in the neighborhood. As he became old, he distributed the property among his three sons. Each son got property worth Rs one crore. But after acquiring the property, they abandoned their father and refused to take care of him.

Later village elders summoned his sons and counseled them to take care of their father. When they refused, the villagers took up the police. Cops too urged them to take care of their old father.

However, when things did not change, Mallayya approached the RDO Husnabad and registered a complaint, following which his three sons were summoned again.

The sons again refused to take care of their father prompting the officials to shift him the old age home at Ankireddypalli village. But a few days ago, he fell ill and his condition deteriorated in the old age home.

The home staff informed his sons, but none of them turned up. Later VRO lodged a complaint at Chinna Kodur police station and a case was registered under relevant sections. Mallayya’s three sons were arrested and sent to remand on Wednesday.
