Alwal advocates parents test positive for COVID, entire family sent to quarantine

Hyderabad: Parents of a telecom company's legal advisor have tested positive for COVID-19 two days after he was shifted to Gandhi hospital Hyderabad for treatment.

The lawyer from Alwal had tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. His wife, children, and domestic help were immediately shifted to quarantine.

Later, his 64-year-old mother, who was undergoing treatment at Yashoda hospital, Malakpet, his father and his brothers’ families were also shifted to quarantine.

The elderly couple has now tested positive while the reports of other family members are awaited.

It is suspected the advocate contracted the virus while attending to his mother at Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet last month.

According to preliminary information, the advocate’s 64-year-old mother was admitted to the hospital for the treatment of Urethra TB on April 24. He along with his brothers, residing at Nagole, had been tending to her in the hospital.

On May 3, he developed fever and cough. A day later, he consulted doctors at the corporate hospital’s Somajiguda branch but the fever did not subside. On May 7, he got admitted to a private hospital at Petbasheerabad and was discharged three days later.

On Monday, he got admitted to another corporate hospital at Begumpet where he was tested positive. He was immediately shifted to Gandhi hospital for further treatment.
