The CID officials wanted to carry out raids on Lakshminarayana in connection with the land scams in the capital city Amaravati. The CID reportedly found evidence of money laundering by beneficiaries in connection to the Amaravati land scam.
Since the house of Lakshminarayana was locked on Saturday, the officials pasted the search notices to the house while not allowing anyone inside the locality.
Lakshminarayanaās son-in-law Dummalapati Srinivasa Rao served as Advocate General during the previous TDP government and Lakshminarayanaās son N Sitharamaraju is a real-estate businessman. He was also one of the sub-contractors of the Polavaram project in the TDP regime.
The CID officials further observed that Lakshminarayana and his family members are involved in the insider trading (land purchase) of Amaravati region.
It may be recalled that the YSR Congress government has been alleging that the TDP leaders, including the then MLAs, minsters and real-estate businessmen associated with the families of the TDP leaders benefited from the insider trading in Amaravati land scams.
The cabinet sub-committee has found over 4,000 acres of land on which alleged insider trading took place.
