Anchor Ravi files cheating case against film distributor

Hyderabad: Telugu television anchor R Ravi Kiran, better known by his screen name ‘Anchor’ Ravi, was allegedly cheated by a film distributor Sandeep. Ravi alleged that he had lent Rs 45 lakh to Sandeep in 2018 for business development. But the distributor has been harassing him without returning the money and even threatening him with sending rowdies.

Ravi approached Kukatpally police and lodged a complaint. A case under Sections 406, 420 and 506 of IPC was registered against Sandeep, said Kukatpally police officials.

In his complaint, Ravi stated that during 2018, Sandeep, who he knew for a long time, approached him for help and sought help for his film distribution venture. Ravi lent him Rs 45 lakh and Sandeep returned Rs 3.75 lakh in 2019, but nothing thereafter.

Ravi told the police that he repeatedly asked for compete repayment and Sandeep started avoiding him. He also alleged that a group of persons followed him wherever he went, especially shooting locations and warning him to stay away from Sandeep. He also told police that he came to know that Sandeep had in the past cheated many people in the same manner and looted lakhs of rupees from them.

Kukatpally police said they started investigation and are collecting more evidence in the case
