Andhra government official suspended for criticising Jagan, state policies on WhatsApp group
By Newsmeter Network Published on 11 May 2020 3:20 PM GMTVijayawada: The deputy executive engineer of Andhra Pradesh state police housing corporation, M.V Vidyasagar, was suspended for abusing Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy and criticising the state government's policies.
Vice-chairman and managing director of the corporation suspended Mr Vidyasagar for gross misconduct and violation of Section 25 of the APSPHC Conduct, Discipline, and Appeal Regulations. The suspension came into force from 11 May.
Mr Vidyasagar had posted certain anti-government content on a WhatsApp group. He had also posted some derogatory comments abusing the Chief Minister and had criticised the government policies. The issue was brought to the notice of CID chief P.V Sunil Kumar, who is also the head of the police housing corporation. The CID cybercrime team interrogated the official, inspected his phone, and found the posts on his WhatsApp group.
Meanwhile, Mr Sunilkumar has asked government employees to follow the code of conduct and asked them to refrain from making any remarks against the government policies, either on social media or in public. He also asked them to refrain from anti-government activities which could attract disciplinary action as per the AP government code of conduct.
