Andhra Pradesh: COVID deaths rise to 29, cases spike to 955
By Newsmeter Network Published on 24 April 2020 10:04 AM GMTVijayawada: Two more COVID-19 deaths were reported in Andhra Pradesh while the hotbeds continued to register new positive cases as death toll increased to 29 on Friday. The number of infected shot up to 955 with the addition of 62 new cases in the last 24 hours.
One death was reported from Kurnool district and another death was reported from Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. So far Guntur and Kurnool districts reported 8 deaths each, highest in the state followed by Krishna district with 7 deaths.
The Kurnool district which has emerged a hot bed of COVID-19 cases, reported 27 more cases on Friday. Guntur district crossed the double century mark with a total of 206 cases, with 11 new COVID-19 positive cases.
Meanwhile, 4 more patients recovered from the disease and have been discharged in the last 24 hours. This takes the total number of cured to 145.
Andhra Pradesh has a total of 781 active Covid-19 cases undergoing treatment in various hospitals. Official sources said about 10 of these patients are in ICU and some of them are in critical condition.
Nellore district which didnāt register a single new case in the past five days, registered one new case on Friday.The two north coastal districts of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram continued to maintain a clean slate with zero cases till date.
A total of 6,306 samples were tested from 9 am on Thursday to 9 am on Friday, of which 62 turned positive and the remaining proved negative
