Andhra Pradesh COVID-19 cases stands at five

Vijayawada: Two more COVID-19positive cases were reported in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday night making it fifth positive case of Coronavirus in the state.

On Saturday, Krishna and East Godavari districts reported each one positive Coronavirus case. The officials of Medical and Family Welfare Department said that a 23-year old youngsters who returned to Vijayawada city of Krishna district from France a few days ago was tested positive Coronavirus.

The contact persons of the youngster ( Father and Mother) were also shifted to the isolation ward in Government Hospital in Vijayawada and they were kept observations.

A 22- year-old youngster who returned to Rajahmundry of East Godavari district from London was tested positive.

Both the patients had been kept in the isolation ward at Government Hospitals in Rajahmundry and Vijayawada . The officials said that the condition of the patients are stable as of now.

It may be recalled that on March 12, 2020, AP reported its first confirmed case of the Covid-19 in Nellore . A student who had returned from Italy to Nellore tested positive for the coronavirus. He has been tested negative by SVIMS, Tirupati. On March 19 morning, second positive Coronavirus case was reported in Andhra Pradesh after a 24 year old youngsters returned to Ongole of Prakasam district from England tested positive. The third positive case was reported in Vizag after a 65 year old man returned from Mecca.

The officials of the Medical and Health Department have been on the job to find out the contact persons of the patients. The officials also launched a sanitation drive at few places in Vijayawada and Rajahmundry

The Medical and Health and Family Welfare department officials said that so far 142 samples were tested in Andhra Pradesh and 5 samples were proved positive while 130 samples proved negative. The test results of the remaining 7 are pending.
