Andhra Pradesh reports more than 10,000 COVID-19 cases for 10th consecutive day
By Newsmeter Network Published on 4 Sep 2020 3:09 PM GMTVijayawada: Andhra Pradesh reported 10,776 new COVID-19 cases on 4 September, a record 10th consecutive day the state has reported over 10,000 cases a day. The latest figure pushes the state's tally to 4,76,506 total cases which includes 1,02,067 active cases, the second-highest in the country after Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, 76 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, pushing the COVID-19 death toll in the state to 4,276.
On a good note, AP saw 12,334 recoveries across the state in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,70,163.
East Godavari district continued to register more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases a day as it registered 1,405 positive cases on Friday, followed by Nellore with 1,270 cases and Prakasam with 1,256 cases. Krishna district registered the lowest number of cases on Friday, only 378.
As many as 59,919 samples were tested in the state in the past 24 hours. With this, the state has so far conducted 39,65,694 tests. Andhra Pradesh has tested 74,264 samples per million persons, more than double the national average of 33,655 tests. The state's positivity rate stands at 12.02 per cent, higher than the national average of 8.43 per cent.
The state's recovery rate stands at 77.68 per cent while the mortality rate was 0.89 per cent, lower than the national average of 1.7 per cent.
