Andhra Pradesh second state after Maharashtra to cross 7L COVID-19 cases

With 6,751 new cases, the COVID-19 tally stands at 7,00,235 in the state. The COVID-19 death toll has reached 5,869 after 41 more patients succumbed to the infection on Thursday.
On the bright side, 7,297 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours. The recoveries continue to be more than the new Covid-19 cases in the state. As of now, 6,36,508 people have been recovered from the virus across the state. The active cases in the state stand at 57,858.
East Godavari, which has witnessed a spurt in coronavirus cases, recorded less than 1,000 new cases for the third consecutive day on Thursday. The district reported 986 cases followed by Chittoor with 888 cases and Prakasam with 783 cases. Kurnool district in the state has reported the lowest number of 265 cases.
Officials of the Medical and Health Department said that 71,577 samples were tested in the past 24 hours in the state of which 6,751 tested positive. The total number of samples tested in the State has increased to 58,78,135.
Officials said so far Krishna district has recorded the lowest number of 27,852 cases, while East Godavari topped the list with the highest number of 98,160 cases. Kurnool district has the lowest number of Covid-19 active cases of 1,707 while East Godavari district has the highest number of active cases of 9,380.
Of the 41 fatalities in the state in the past 24 hours, Chittoor district recorded the highest number of seven deaths, followed by six in Krishna, five each in Prakasam and Visakhapatnam districts, four each in Anantapur and East Godavari, three each in Guntur and Kadapa, two in West Godavari, one each in Nellore and Srikakulam districts.
