Visakhapatnam: Major churches in Andhra Pradesh have decided to live stream Sunday services on Facebook and YouTube.

This follows the instructions by AP Health and Family Welfare Department to restrict entry to all major churches, temples, and mosques in a bid to break the coronavirus chain. However, the daily rituals in all religious places will be allowed.

Union Chapel, a Baptist Church, located in Vizag city, decided to live-stream its services on YouTube.

ā€œAs per the government guidelines and break the chain of coronavirus, we decided to broadcast our Sunday service online. Believers can click the link on YouTubeā€, the church said

Oliver Rayi, Andhra Pradesh Christian Forum leader has offered help in live streaming church services.

ā€œMostly the major churches in Andhra have suspended their services. We would help the churches if they want to live stream their services on Facebook or YouTube. We have to break the chain of coronavirus. Cottage prayers with the participation of a few believers could take place on Sundays,ā€ he said.

Meanwhile, the moderators of Church of South India, Lutheran, and other denominations have asked the churches to suspend services till March 31.

For the solemn religious observance of the Lenten period leading to Easter, Churches are holding either morning or evening prayer meetings every day.
