AP government announces Rs 50 lakh insurance for health staff tackling coronavirus
By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 March 2020 8:51 AM GMTHyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government on Monday announced an insurance scheme for the frontline health workers tackling coronavirus pandemic in the state.
Under the scheme, every health worker including doctors and paramedics will be provided Rs 50 lakh insurance cover for 90 days. Doctors, paramedics of Pro Hospitals, AIIMS, CGHS, contract, and outsourcing staff will be covered under the scheme.
The announcement was made by Special CS Doctor Jawahar Reddy. The insurance premium will be paid by the government under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan package.
Andhra Pradesh has reported 21 positive cases until now. Out of the 21, Vishakapatnam reported the highest number of 6.
Two new cases were reported on Sunday in the state. Both have been infected by local transmission. Both the positive cases were in contact with Patient - 7.
A total of 102 samples were tested on Sunday, out of which two came back positive. The state government also revealed that a total of 29,672 are under home isolation while 178 are under observation in the hospitals.
