AP govt cancels deputation of IRS officer, sends him back to CBDT
By Newsmeter Network Published on 14 Dec 2019 3:24 PM GMTHyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Government on Saturday cancelled the deputation of IRS officer Ch Venkata Gopinath and repatriated him to the parent department.
Gopinath had come on deputation from Central Board of Direct Taxes from the department of revenue in the Ministry of Finance. During N Chandrababu Naidu's regime several central government officials were posted in plum posts on deputation. As per the order, the period of deputation will be for three years from 2015 August unless extended further. State government again issued an order in 2018 extending the deputation period for two more years till August 26 2020.
On December 13, 2019, Gopinath submitted representation requesting to repatriate him to the parent cadre. According to the GO issued by AP Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney government considered the representation of the IRS officer and repatriated him to centre. Venkata Gopinath had served as the Vice-chairman and Managing Director of of the AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation.
When Gopinath was appointed in the plum post, the IAS officers of Andhra took a serious objection stating that Non-IAS officers are given these posts.
