AP reports 47 fresh Covid-19 cases and one Covid-19 death

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh reported one Covid-19 death and 47 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the total tally to 2,561.

Of the fresh 47 Covid-19 cases registered in the state in the past 24 hours, 5 cases, three cases from Chittoor district and two cases Nellore district are linked to the Koyambedu market in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The officials of the Medical and Family Welfare Department said that the lone death reported was from Krishna district, taking the death toll in the state to 56.

The officials also said that a total of 9,136 people were tested in the past 24 hours and of them, only 47 tested positive for coronavirus.

As many as 47 patients recovered from the virus and have been discharged from various hospitals on Friday, taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,778. The number of Covid-19 active patients now stands at 727 in the state.

The cumulative positive cases from other states stood at 153 with 127 active cases.

Of the total 56 Covid-19 deaths in Andhra Pradesh, Kurnool district reported 21 deaths (highest in the state), followed by Krishna district at 17 deaths and Guntur district with 8 deaths.

Nellore and Anantapur district registered four deaths each while Vizang and Chittoor districts reported one death each.

Kurnool district occupied the top place in terms of more Covid-19 cases in the state followed by Guntur and Krishna districts.
