COVID-19: One more patient succumbs, death toll jumps to 55 in AP

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh reported another Covid-19 related death on Friday, taking the toll to 55. The state registered 62 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 2,514.

Of the 62 Covid-19 cases, 14 are linked to the Koyambedu market in Chennai. The officials of the Medical and Family Welfare Department said that the death was reported in the Krishna district.

The officials also said that a total of 8,415 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them 62 came back positive.

As many as 51 patients were discharged after recovery. So far 1,731 patients have recovered. The number of active Covid-19 patients now stands at 728 in the state.

Of the total 55 Covid-19 deaths in Andhra Pradesh, Kurnool district reported the highest of 21. It was followed by Krishna district with 16 and Guntur district with 8 deaths. Nellore and Anantapur district registered four deaths each while Vizang and Chittoor districts reported one death each.

Kurnool district has the highest Covid-19 cases in the state followed by Guntur and Krishna districts.
