Though the source of infection is not known, it is suspected that he might have contracted the virus during his visit to one of the markets last week. While he was admitted to Gandhi hospital, his wife and two sons were advised to remain under home quarantine. Their samples were sent for testing.
His colleagues at Kushaiguda police station, who were in close contact with him, were also advised to remain under home quarantine. This is the second positive case detected in Rachakonda commissionerate, after a constable from Medipally police station, residing at Amberpet tested positive early this month. A few of his family members were also tested positive.
A constable deputed to the Central Zone of the Taskforce was posted at Gandhi hospital for COVID bandobast. He too has been tested positive. Another constable in his early 30s from Chatrinaka was also tested positive.
With this, the number of positive cases in the Telangana police department has reached 15. More than 50 cops have been advised to remain under home quarantine.
