Attempt to rape daughter; man sentenced to seven years in prison

Hyderabad: Daughter raped by her own father. A 37-year-old man was found guilty by a city court for sexually assaulting his 15-year-old daughter. The man, identified as B Dhavid, was found guilty by the First Additional Metropolitan Session judge Suneetha Kunchala. He was sentenced to seven years of rigorous punishment and was fined Rs 1,000 fine under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Dhavid, a daily-wage labourer, would often come home heavily drunk and beat his wife. One day, on June 2017, he returned home, drunk as usual and forced himself on his daughter, who was tending to her six-month-old brother. Dhavid further stripped her and tried to rape her. Upon hearing her cries, their house owner came to her rescue.

According to Additional Public Prosecutor K Pratap Reddy, the girl went crying to her mother who was working in a construction site. Following this, the victim approached the Banjara Hills police on the same day of the offence, and a case was booked.
