Balapur detective inspector engaged in shifting COVID patients, test +VE

Hyderabad: An inspector serving in the detective wing of Balapur police station of Rachakonda Commissionerate, has been tested positive for Covid-19. Test were conducted after the cop developed symptoms. Health samples were collected on Thursday while results were revealed on the same day.

The inspector, a resident of street no 8 at Habsiguda, lives in an apartment with his family. Following the lockdown, his wife and children had gone to their hometown., the cops was reportedly staying alone in the flat. Following the test results, the apartment housing 15 flats has been declared containment zone. The GHMC officials with health department have sealed the premises while sanitization is on.

Inquiries found that the Inspector actively involved Covid enforcement and engaged in tracing the primary and secondary contacts of the infected persons. He was also deployed to shift COVID patients to Gandhi Hospital. Furthermore, Balapur saw a high number of Markaz returnees.

'During the initial days, the positive cases in Telangana triggered after the Markaz attendees were tested positive. Further, the police department played a major role in tracing all the Tablighi returnees in the state. While over 1,100 people from Telangana went to Tablighi, more than 600 were residents of Hyderabad and surrounding areas. The Inspector led the contact tracing process in the area, interacting with people and closely monitoring from the ground level, which could have made him a victim', an official from police department said.
