Beeda Masthan Rao would be YSRCP nominee to Rajya Sabha, after Thota Seetha Mahalakshmi retires

Hyderabad: TDP leader from Nellore, Beeda Masthan Rao, has submitted his resignation to the party. In a letter addressed to the party Supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday, he stated that he is resigning from the party’s primary membership. Masthan Rao will be joining YSRCP in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

It is learnt that he would be sent to Rajya Sabha, in the next year from Andhra Pradesh. Notably, TDP MP from Rajya Sabha, Thota Seetha Mahalakshmi, would be retiring in April 2020, and YSRCP wants to send Masthan Rao to Rajya Sabha to fill the vacancy. Seetha Mahalakshmi served as the Bhimavaram municipal Chairperson during 2005-2010. She was also TDP District Party President for West Godavari. Her term as MP is from 10 April 2014 to 9 April 2020.

Beeda Masthan Rao has been a close associate of Chandrababu Naidu, and YSRCP had started hitting close aides recently. As a result, senior leaders are quitting the party one by one, and shortly, two more TDP MLAs from Prakasham are likely to join YSRCP.
