Bheeshma filmmakers accused of misusing name of great legend

Hyderabad: Director Venky Kudumula's latest film Bheeshma is facing allegations that it provoked religious sentiments. A group of people lodged a complaint at Malakpet police station, Hyderabad, against the director, producer, writer, and the film crew. They alleged that the filmmakers provoked religious sentiments by using Bheeshma as the movie title and created a negative impact on youth by misusing the name of a great legend. The Malakpet police said action will be taken after a detailed inquiry.

The Film, which released last Friday, has Nithiin and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead, while Anant Nag, Jisshu Sengupta, Samapth Raj, Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji, and Naresh are in the supporting roles. It is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi.

The film is about Bheeshma (Nithiin), a frustrated single man and a graduate dropout, whose repeated attempts to woo a girl always fall flat. However, cupid strikes when he meets Chaitra (Rashmika). In a strange turnaround of events, he is noticed by Bheeshma (Ananth Nag) the founder of an organic farming company. The rest of the story depicts his association with him and how Bheeshma wins Chaitra’s heart.
