Hyderabad: Seemingly angered over his cigarette smoking, a history-sheeter stabbed a businessman at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad on Monday night.

The victim was identified as Pavan. He sustained serious stab wounds and has been admitted to the hospital. The accused identified as Abid Ansari fled from the spot.

Sources said Pavan, a businessman residing at Road No 12 in Banjara Hills, came to a local pan shop on Monday night to purchase cigarettes.

Abid Ansari, also a resident of Banjara Hills, raised objection and asked Pavan to stop smoking. Since Pavan continued smoking, an argument ensued.

Abid pulled out his knife and stabbed Pavan repeatedly. Pavan received injuries and collapsed in a pool of blood,

Abid and his friends fled the spot. Though there were many people near the pan shop, none of them intervened given Abid’s previous criminal history. Abid was earlier involved in a couple of bodily offences and was arrested too. He is currently out on bail.

Banjara Hills police have registered a case of an attempt to murder started the investigation. A massive hunt has been launched to nab the accused.
