Bodies of TRS MLAs missing sister, two others retrieved from Kakatiya canal

Hyderabad: Twenty days after they went missing, the body of Peddapalli MLA Manohar Reddy’s sister and two other kin were retrieved from a car in Kakatiya canal on 17 February. Police suspect that the car fell in the canal and remained underwater all this while.

Satyanarayan Reddy, his wife Radha, and their daughter Vanya Sri from Laxmipur in Karimnagar district went missing almost 20 days ago. According to the police, the car surfaced on Monday when the sluice gates of the canal were closed for a search relating to another case. On Sunday night a woman had gone missing in the canal after the two-wheeler she was riding pillion on fell into the water.

The Karimnagar police with the help of swimmers and cranes retrieved the car from the canal. Karimnagar commissioner of police Kamalasan Reddy, other senior officials, as well as the MLA, visited the site.

On Sunday, in a freak mishap, a car had plunged into the Manair river from a bridge at Karimnagar. The incident left two persons dead and injured a woman travelling in the car. A police constable from the traffic wing of Karimnagar commissionerate, who was managing the traffic on the bridge, also accidentally fell into the river and sustained injuries.
