From Promise to Policy: CM Revanth Reddy’s vision for women empowerment

Hyderabad: Underscoring the Telangana government’s focus on inclusive growth, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy unveiled an ambitious vision to empower one crore women to become crorepatis.

Speaking at the WE Hub Women Acceleration Program, the Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive roadmap of welfare and development initiatives aimed at placing women at the forefront of the state’s progress.

“Empowering women is not just a promise — it’s the cornerstone of our governance,” Revanth Reddy declared during his address, which received resounding applause from the audience.

Citing historical inspiration, he invoked the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, crediting her for steering India through critical moments such as the India-China conflict and the 1971 Indo-Pak war. “The strength that led this nation to victory was woman power,” he said, asserting that his party has consistently recognized women as a national asset.

The Chief Minister detailed a range of initiatives being implemented by the state:

Mahalakshmi Scheme: Offers free RTC bus travel for women, which has also contributed to the financial turnaround of the state-run transport corporation.

Amma Adarsha Pathashala: Entrusts school management roles to girl students, fostering leadership from a young age.

Economic Participation: Women’s self-help groups have been awarded contracts for stitching school uniforms and are being encouraged to enter industries like fuel retail and solar energy.

Renewable Energy Projects: Allocation of 1,000 megawatts in solar energy projects to women-led groups, with a promise to expand based on performance.

Highlighting the financial discipline of women in Telangana, Revanth Reddy drew a contrast between corporate defaulters and women’s self-help groups. “While corporate giants default on massive loans, our women repay even the smallest sums with interest. Financial discipline belongs to our daughters,” he stated.

Further extending the empowerment push, the government plans to expand self-help group networks into urban areas through a special drive. The Chief Minister also announced that products made by women’s groups are now being presented as official gifts to visiting dignitaries — a symbolic gesture of the state’s commitment to women’s entrepreneurship.

“Encouraging our daughters is the very policy of this government,” he affirmed, concluding his address with a heartfelt promise: “As your Revanth Anna, I pledge to walk with you — towards strength, self-respect, and prosperity,” the Chief Minister said.
