Vijayawada: PG Electroplast Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary PG Technoplast Private Limited, has chosen Sri City, Tirupati district, for its first manufacturing facility in South India.

The decision was taken after evaluating alternative locations across the region. This reaffirms industry confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s investor-first, reform-driven industrial ecosystem.

The company has acquired a 50-acre land parcel in Sri City to develop an integrated manufacturing campus, representing its largest land acquisition to date and marking a significant addition to the state’s consumer durables and electronics manufacturing base.

PG Electroplast plans to invest approximately ₹1,000 crore over five years, commencing with a refrigerator manufacturing plant of 1.2 million units annual capacity, with commercial production targeted by December 2026, and with master-planned provisions for subsequent phases in air conditioners, washing machines, and other appliances and electronics. The project is expected to create over 500 direct jobs in the first phase and catalyze wider opportunities across components, logistics, and allied services in the Sri City industrial ecosystem. Minister Nara Lokesh, speaking about the development, welcomed the investment and thanked PG Electroplast for placing its trust in AP.

Strategic advantages of Sri City :

- Market reach: Located in southern Andhra Pradesh on the Tamil Nadu border, Sri City provides overnight trucking access to major consumption centers across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Kerala, enabling rapid fulfillment for South India demand from a single hub.

- Export readiness: Proximity to Chennai Port supports cost-efficient inbound components and outbound finished goods, strengthening PG Electroplast’s export potential and aligning with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat objectives.

- Scale and speed: Sri City’s world-class industrial infrastructure and facilitation ecosystem compress time-to-production for the 1.2 million-unit Phase 1 line, while the 50-acre campus design supports seamless expansion into multi-category appliance and electronics manufacturing.

Policy impact :

PG Electroplast’s decision underscores the effectiveness of Andhra Pradesh’s transparent single-window clearances, competitive policy incentives, and high-quality industrial infrastructure that reduce time, cost, and complexity for manufacturers scaling in India. The Government remains committed to providing best-in-class facilitation, reliable utilities, skilled workforce development, and logistics support to ensure timely commissioning by December 2026 and to enable subsequent capacity expansions at Sri City.

Company remarks :

PG Electroplast has described the Sri City campus as a proud milestone—its first South India facility and largest land acquisition - citing the site’s scale, port proximity, and export potential as transformational for its long-term growth strategy and community engagement.

Next steps :

The State’s industries and investments departments, along with Sri City authorities, will extend dedicated handholding to expedite statutory approvals, infrastructure tie-ins, and talent pipelines in line with the project timeline and phased expansion plan.
